Canine Heartworm (CHW) Antigen Rapid Test

Heartworm disease (dirofilariasis) is an infectious disease caused by parasites in dogs, and rarely in cats. It is transmitted by mosquitoes.
The roundworm initially inhabits the pulmonary arteries of dogs. If there is a large invasion, it can also appear in the heart, which is generally referred to as heartworm, and can even lead to heart failure.

The Canine Heartworm (CHW) Antigen Rapid Test from best AnimalCARE helps in the early detection of the disease and can therefore lead to a faster diagnosis by the veterinarian.

Possible symptoms of this disease

Inflammatory reactions, loss of appetite, poor performance, weight loss, chronic cough

Application

  • Collect whole blood from the animal and centrifuge it to obtain serum, or place the whole blood in a tube containing anticoagulants to obtain plasma.
  • Use a pipette to add 10 μl of the prepared sample into the opening of the test cassette. Then immediately add 3 drops (approx. 120 μl) of the test buffer into the sample opening.
  • After 10 minutes the test can be interpreted

Purpose of use

The Canine Heartworm Antigen Rapid Test is a test cassette for diagnosing the presence of Dirofilaria immitis antigens (CHW Ag) in a dog blood sample.

      TEST PROCEDURE

          

    • INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS
  •  Positive: The presence of both C band and T band, no matter T band is clear or vague.Negative: Only clear C band appears.

    Invalid: No colored band appears in C zone, no matter whether T band appears.

      STORAGE

    The kit can be stored at room temperature (2-30°C). The test kit is stable through the expiration date (18 months) marked on the foil pouch. DO NOT FREEZE. Do not store the test kit in direct sunlight.

      PRECAUTIONS

    • For best results, please strictly adhere to these instructions.
    • All reagents must be placed at room temperature before running the assay.
    • Do not remove test cassette from its pouch until immediately before use.
    • Do not reuse the test kit.
    • Do not use the test beyond its expiration date marked on the foil pouch.
    • The components in this kit have been quality control tested as standard batch unit. Do not mix components from different lot numbers.
